Survey course introduces the areas of student services. Reviews organization, administration, goals, and objectives of these areas from a theoretical and practical perspective.

Current professional problems and ethics in the helping professions, including issues related to certification, licensure, confidentiality, forensic concerns, values, responsibilities, and professional and legal standards.

 

EPS  671 CONSULT/HELP PROFESS     (3)

Examines consultative role of the mental health professional according to origin, assumption, goals, and strategies underlying several models of service delivery.

Administration, scoring, interpretation, and report writing with major measures of intelligence. Includes theory and research with practicum experience. Administration, scoring, and interpretation of tests of cognitive, academic, adaptive, sensory, and motor functioning. Emphasizes psychoeducational diagnosis and report writing. EPS  675 PSYCHOED PRACTICUM     (3)

Supervised administration and interpretation of a variety of tests applicable to the practice of school psychology and supervised experience with consultative, in-service, and direct interventions in educational settings. Letter grade or Pass-fail. Involves 100 practicum hours per semester; course may be repeated for up to 6 hours of credit. Prerequisite: EPS 606 and EPS 673 and EPS 674 and EPS 738

 

EPS  680 ASSMNT & DIAGNOSIS     (3)

Presents current diagnostic system and variety of psychoeducational diagnoses set forth in Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and federal and Arizona regulations. Emphasizes integrating psychological assessment results with the diagnostic process. Background in personality theory or abnormal psychology. Prerequisite or Corequisite: EPS 664

Supervised, on-campus counseling practicum experiences, emphasizing interaction with individuals seeking service from counselors. Minimum practicum experience is 100 clock hours. Neuropsychological assessment techniques used in evaluating neurological dysfunction and aphasic, agnosic, and apraxic disorders affecting child and adult learning, social, and motor competence. Prerequisite: EPS 673 and PSY 650

Theories and skills related to management, development, and evaluation of psychological services; emphasizes supervisory role of the program administrator. Admission to Doctoral Program in Educational Psychology or instructor's consent. Prerequisite: EPS 670

 

EPS  796 DOCTORAL INTERNSHIP     (3-9)

Full-time supervised professional experience. 1500 clock hours required. (If you are a school psychology student, you must take at least 600 hours in a school setting.) Instructor consent. Must be taken for two semesters for a total of 6 hours of credit. Prerequisite: EPS 740 or EPS 741
