Covers time-management and study skills, communication skills, career exploration, and use of university resources. Prerequisite: recommendation by Undergraduate Admissions' Office of Campus Programs and Outreach, or instructor's consent. Prerequisite:  Freshmen status only or cumulative GPA less than 2.00

 

EPS 198 MODULAR LEARNING EXPERIENCE      (1-3)

Foundations of intellectual inquiry.  In-depth study of a substantive problem.  Letter grade only.  May be repeated for up to 6 hours of credit.

EPS 404 COUNSELING AND STUDENT DEVELOPMENT IN A UNIVERSITY SETTING      (3)

Overview of counseling and student development theories, practices, concepts, skills, and contemporary issues in a university setting.

 

EPS 408 FIELDWORK EXPERIENCE      (1-12)

Supervised field experience in an appropriate agency or organization. Pass-fail only.  Department consent.

 

EPS 426 DISCIPLINE STRATEGIES      (1)

Module in classroom applications of learning theory, including classroom management, discipline, and counseling approaches for children in elementary grades.

 

EPS 436 ADVANCED ISSUES IN COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT      (3)

Development of cognition in children is studied along with methods of instruction for facilitating learning. Prerequisite: EPS 324 or EPS 325

 

EPS 485 UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH      (1-6)

Individualized original research under the supervision of a research adviser.  Pass-fail only.

 

EPS 497 INDEPENDENT STUDY      (1-6)

Individualized approach to selected topics by guided reading and critical evaluation. Pass-fail only. Department consent.

 

EPS 498 SENIOR SEMINAR     (1-3)

Integrates theory and practice, with emphasis on historical, contemporary, and future issues.  Letter grade only.  May be repeated for up to 6 units of credit.

 

EPS 499 CONTEMPORARY DEVELOPMENTS      (1-3)

Examines recent trends and investigations in a selected area.
