As one of NAU’s general requirements, you must complete 6 units of diversity coursework designed to expand your breadth of understanding about the diverse peoples within this country and across the globe.
To meet this requirement, you take at least one course from each category:
Ethnic Diversity (3 units)
(Courses in this category have a primary focus on one or more of the following groups within the United States: African Americans, Alaskan Natives, American Indians, Asian Americans, Latinos/Latinas, or Pacific Islanders.)
Global Awareness (3 units)
(These courses focus on at least one non-Western region or people or a comparative study of Western and non-Western areas of the world.)
Please note that courses designated as ethnic diversity and global awareness courses can be taken in your major or minor, as part of your liberal studies requirements, or as electives.
