CIS  510 ENTERPRISE DATABASE CONCEPTS       (3)

In-depth investigation and application of database concepts including:  data models, application development using host language and DBMS development tools, and data warehousing.  Letter grade only. Prerequisite: CIS 310

 

CIS  540 WEB TECHNOLOGY AND DEVELOPMENT       (3)

Software development for establishing a business presence on the Web.  Subjects include WWW and Web, servers, e-commerce, applications modeling and design, tools and languages and site architecture. Prerequisite:  Admission to Business Administration (MBA) and CIS 221 and CIS 310

 

CIS  560 ADVANCED MIS SEMINAR       (3)

Topics cover emerging technologies in the use and development of information systems. Prerequisite:  Admission to Business Administration (MBA) and CIS 220

 

CIS  580 SYSTEMS ANALYSIS AND DESIGN       (3)

Techniques for studying, documenting, specifying, designing, implementing, and testing small and/or enterprise-wide business systems.  Course emphasis will be on requirements determination and logical design.  Analysis and design includes structure and object-oriented methods using CASE tools. Prerequisite:  Admission to Business Administration (MBA) and CIS 310

 

CIS  590 MANAGEMENT OF INFORMATION ASSURANCE AND SECURITY       (3)

Advanced study of Enterprise-wide information assurance and security; includes strategic, continuity and disaster recovery planning, policies, procedures, staffing functions, security practices and security architecture.  Letter grade only. Prerequisite:  Admission to Business Administration (MBA) and CIS 320 or instructor consent

 

CIS  599 CONTEMPORARY DEVELOPMENTS     (1-3)

Examines recent trends and investigations in a selected area of a particular field of study.  May be offered no more than three times before being submitted for a permanent course number.  May be repeated for credit.  Letter grade only.

 

CIS  605 DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS       (3)

Database structures, design, and software. Data modeling and analysis using information-engineering methods. Applications developed using current database software, generally in the mainframe environment. Prerequisite:  Admission to Business Administration (MBA) or Management (MS) and (CIS 220 or CIS 221)

 

CIS  610 APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT       (3)

Introduces application-development tools using structured methodologies and database structures. Applications developed using current application-development tool sets. Prerequisite: Admission to Chemistry plan and Junior Status or higher and CHM 238

 

CIS  615 INFORMATION SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT       (3)

System development with advanced coverage of design methodologies. Systems developed using current integrated CASE tools and methodologies. Prerequisite:  Admission to Business Administration (MBA) or Management (MS) and CIS 605

 

CIS  625 TOPICS IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS       (3)

Seminar in one or more information-systems topics, such as information-management trends, data communications, distributed systems, expert systems, decision-support systems, or other topics of current interest.  Instructor's Consent. Prerequisite:  Admission to Business Administration (MBA) or Management (MS) and CIS 605

 

CIS  697 INDEPENDENT STUDY     (1-3)

Letter grade or pass-fail.  Department Consent. Prerequisite: Admission to Business Administration (MBA) Plan or Management (MS) Plan

 

CIS  699 THESIS      (1-9)

Individualized directed research, writing, and oral defense of selected thesis topic.  May be repeated as needed.  Prerequisite:  Admission to master's program.
