DH  500 FOUNDATIONS FOR CONSERVATIVE PERIODONTAL THERAPY       (3)

Scientific concepts providing rationale for therapy. Prerequisites: licensed hygienist and local anesthesia certification. 2 hrs. lecture, 3 hrs. clinic. Prerequisite or Corequisite: DH 369  and DH 426

 

DH  501 CONSERVATIVE PERIODONTAL THERAPY       (3)

Culminating didactic experience integrating scientific concepts and research on periodontal disease processes and treatment. Prerequisite: EE 222 with a grade greater than or equal to C

 

DH  518 CONSERVATIVE PERIODONTAL TECHNIQUES I      (1-2)

Clinical experience in root planing, curettage, and suturing. Prerequisite: local anesthesia certification. 1 hr. lecture, 6 hrs. clinic. Prerequisite or Corequisite: DH 369 and DH 426 and DH 500

 

DH  519 CONSERVATIVE PERIODONTAL TECHNIQUES II       (3)

Procedures for therapy and periodontal program implementation. Prerequisite: DH 518

 

DH  560 EDUCATIONAL METHODOLOGY FOR DENTAL HYGIENE EDUCATORS       (3)

Provides a background in educational methodology for Allied Health and Nursing educators.  Educators learn about developing student understanding and types of knowledge, learning styles, stimulating critical thinking, providing meaningful feedback, writing objectives, designing outcomes, and creating rubrics.  Letter grade only.

 

DH  596 BEYOND CULTURAL DIVERSITY       (3)

Provides a background in multicontextuality and best practices for teaching all students.  The concepts presented are targeted toward and specifically adapted to Allied Health and Nursing education.  Letter grade only.

 

DH  599 CONTEMPORARY DEVELOPMENTS     (1-3)

Examines recent trends and investigations in a selected area of a particular field of study.  May be offered no more than three times before being submitted for a permanent course number.  May be repeated for credit.  Letter grade only.
