Undergraduate Information

You may pursue the following undergraduate academic plans in NAU’s School of Art:

These fine art plans provide you with a wide range of educational opportunities based on an integrated approach to aesthetic, professional, and academic disciplines. Our educational objective is to allow you to reach your full intellectual and creative potential. Our plans combine the academic and professional, blended with liberal studies, to help you prepare to enter graduate school or a variety of occupations.

The School of Art’s B.F.A. plans educate and prepare you for your career as an active and producing artist. We emphasize the creation of visual objects and the development of artistic vision through direct experience with a variety of media. Completing the degree requires presentation and oral defense of a one-person exhibition under the supervision and with the approval of a faculty committee.

Regardless of which academic plan you choose to pursue, our faculty members are committed to working cooperatively with you to identify creative solutions to interrelated visual and technical concerns raised by academe and business in today’s society. In addition, our faculty members focus on helping you to develop confidence in yourself and your work—to stimulate the learning process and promote creativity. We give you multiple opportunities to experience success, and from these opportunities come continuing growth and knowledge gained from producing and analyzing your own work.
