Our objective in offering these plans is to provide a systematic examination of world art and architecture as well as the study of art history and the variety of methodological approaches used within the discipline. Our plans emphasize formal analysis and the location of works of art within a variety of historical and cultural contexts. Our courses stress critical thinking, comparative analysis, visual acuity, and effective oral and written expression.  

 

Majoring in art history can prepare you for graduate work or professional study in numerous fields, including art history, museum studies, art restoration and conservation, art librarianship, and arts management. The research and writing skills acquired in the study of art history can also enable you to pursue a wide variety of career options in fields as diverse as finance, journalism, and law.
