The mission of the School of Music at Northern Arizona University is to prepare undergraduate and graduate students for successful careers in music education, performance, and the academic study of music; and to provide courses in the discipline for non-majors. The School of Music highly values the integration of music education and performance, tradition and current trends, and fosters a supportive environment by cultivating each student’s potential for success.
The School of Music strives to graduate well-rounded musicians, students equipped to become successful teachers, and accomplished performers in the competitive environment of the music profession. The success of our mission is achieved through private instruction with faculty performers; ensemble, stage, and solo performance experiences; strong academic courses; and supervised lab teaching.
Our plans are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
