You may purse the following academic plans through the School of Communication’s merchandising program:  

We offer these plans to help you develop the oral, written, and visual communication skills you need to enter the merchandising profession, through practical experience in the classroom along with opportunities for real-life experience in cooperative education programs or internships with prestigious retailing or manufacturing firms.  

 

The field of merchandising is vast and extremely diversified. The merchandising environment encompasses many types of products that we use in our lives, including the apparel we wear, accessories and adornment we select, furnishings we choose for our homes, and items that contribute to our style of living. Merchandising involves all of the activities necessary to have the right merchandise at the right time and place in sufficient quantities and at the right price to meet customer demand. These activities require specialized skills relating to the merchandising environment.  

 

A career in merchandising offers an exciting future with challenge, recognition, and many opportunities for advancement. After graduating, you may seek a career in buying and merchandising, entrepreneurship, forecasting, media writing, public relations, or visual merchandising.
