SHP  300W APPLIED ETHICS IN HEALTH CARE      (3)

This course examines health care practices from a moral point of view using philosophical argument techniques.  Department consent required.  Prerequisites:  Junior or senior standing, or permission of the instructor.  AHI

SHP  301 INTERNATIONAL HEALTH SAFETY:  TRAVEL HEALTH CARE WEB-BASED COURSE      (3)

Health and safety decision-making strategies in diverse international settings through examination of historical, social, political, economic, religious, geographic and environmental perspectives.  Letter grade only. Prerequisite:  Junior Status or higher

SHP  303 CHEMISTRY FOR CONSUMER PROTECTION      (4)

Application of chemistry to consumer products; Actions/interactions of chemicals and their composition in the products as they relate to consumer safety.  Prerequisite: CHM 152 and CHM 151L

SHP  310 MEDICAL AND SCIENTIFIC TERMINOLOGY      (4)

Introductions and analysis of basic Greek and Latin related words; terms used in the medical and biological sciences.  SAS

SHP  485 UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH      (1-6)

Research under the supervision of a faculty research adviser. Pass-fail only.  May be repeated for up to 12 units of credit.

SHP  497 INDEPENDENT STUDY      (1-6)

Individualized approach to selected topics by guided reading and critical evaluation under the guidance of a faculty adviser. Pass-fail only. Student must have study mentor approval prior to departmental consent.

SHP  499 CONTEMPORARY DEVELOPMENTS      (1-3)

Examines recent trends and investigations in a selected area.  Letter grade only.
