For this 81-unit program, which involves completing a dissertation, take:
36 units of master's-level work relevant to your research interests
9 units of statistics (such as ENG 668 and EPS 625 and 725)
3 units of literature or rhetoric
9 units of seminars
9 units of graduate electives chosen in consultation with your dissertation committee
15 units of ENG 799, for the research, writing, and oral defense of an approved dissertation
(Please note that you may end up taking more units of dissertation credit than the 15 units you can count toward your degree, because you must register for ENG 799 each semester while you work on your dissertation.)
In addition:
complete a screening process
complete a qualifying exam
fulfill NAU's residency requirements
