For this 36-unit program, which involves preparing a research-based thesis, you take:
12 units of core requirements:
ANT 568, 569, 600, and 605
15 units of additional formal coursework, of which 12 units must be organized around a theme
(not to include ANT 608, 685, 697, or 699)
3 units of other coursework
6 units of ANT 699, for the research, writing, and oral defense of an approved thesis
(Please note that you can only count 6 units of thesis credit toward your degree, even though you may end up taking more thesis units because you must register for ANT 699 each semester while you are working on your thesis.)
Please note that these 36 units can include up to 4 units of individualized studies.
