This academic plan is designed for students who want to pursue a career in understanding and managing land and environmental spatial data systems, including geographic information systems (GIS), and remote sensing applications. This nonthesis plan requires a professional applied paper that is overseen by your practicum committee. Generally, this plan is not intended for practicing GIS or remote sensing professionals.
To complete this 36-unit plan, you take:
16 units of geographic information science core:
GGR 531, GGR 533, GGR 535 or 536, and GGR 537 or 538
(You may substitute courses depending on your prior professional work and with major advisor approval.)
a concentration of 14 units in an NAU disciplinary field, such as anthropology, archeology, biology, civil and environmental engineering, environmental science, forestry, geography, geology, political science, public administration, public planning, and sociology, among others
6 units of GGR 689, a professional practicum
