Through this minor, you receive a basic understanding of the role that the family has played in society, the dynamics of the family in transition, and current research relating to family issues. This minor is not available to sociology majors, who may choose the extended B.A. or B.S. in applied sociology with a family studies emphasis.
To complete this minor, you take the following 21 units:
SOC 101 (3 units)
SOC 216 and 217 (6 units)
12 units from SOC 204, 316, 414, 417, and 418; SOC 360 or GRT 360; SW 450; and CCJ 410 and 425
