Undergraduate Information

You may pursue the following academic plans in NAU’s Women’s and Gender Studies Program:  

These plans offer you historical and contemporary perspectives on women’s contributions to culture, society, politics, academic disciplines, professions, social movements, the arts, and many other elements of human experience.  

 

Through these academic plans, you develop critical and independent thinking, reading, and writing skills by evaluating cross-disciplinary, multi-ethnic, and international scholarship on women’s lives; sex and gender roles and identities; and feminist histories, theories, and methodologies. These plans also help you to discover how gender identity is shaped by race, class, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and age and to understand gender as a category of analysis in the context of many disciplines and their methodologies.

Graduate Information

You may pursue the following graduate academic plan through the Women’s and Gender Studies Program:

We designed this academic plan to provide you with an opportunity to study the theoretical foundations of women’s studies and to develop your analytical skills within this multidisciplinary field.

 

Since gender, race, class, sexuality, ability, and nationalism operate as interlocking categories, this certificate plan includes both a U.S.-focused and a global diversity component.
