NAU and the Arizona Board of Regents have established certain general academic requirements that you must meet to earn an undergraduate degree. Your advisor and others in your department are available to help you understand and meet these requirements, but ultimately you are responsible for fulfilling them.
If you do not meet all requirements for graduation, your degree will not be awarded. Therefore, you should acquaint yourself with all relevant university regulations, remain informed throughout your academic career, and assume responsibility for completing all degree requirements.
In doing so, you should read this catalog carefully. Although it does not establish a contractual relationship, it summarizes the requirements you must meet to qualify for a faculty recommendation to the Arizona Board of Regents to award you a degree. This section and the one titled NAU's Academic Plans are particularly critical to understanding the requirements you must meet.
Some academic departments have higher standards for admission to their academic plans. If your intended plan has higher standards, you must meet those standards. In some cases, you may be admitted to NAU, but not immediately to the plan of your choice. In this case, you may seek admission to your academic plan after you enroll and successfully complete the prerequisite requirements.
To find out more about each department’s academic plans, see the section in this catalog titled NAU’s Academic Plans. You may also go to www.nau.edu; click on Academics and Research, then Colleges and Schools, and then Majors and Programs. Most programs list specific requirements under"Degree Requirements."
