CM  220 INTRODUCTION TO STRUCTURAL DESIGN      (3)

Introduces forces, reactions, shear and bending moments, section modulus, moment of inertia, center of gravity, and stress and strain relationships.  Use of Uniform Building Code in developing wood structure design.  Letter grade only. Prerequisite:  (PHY 111 or PHY 112 or PHY 161) and MAT 125 or higher with a grade greater than or equal to C

CM  329 CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATING AND BIDDING      (3)

Development of complete estimates including bid documents, strategies, material and labor costing, computerized worksheets, and subcontractor buyout.  Letter grade only.  Course fee required. Prerequisite: CM 130, CM 222, CM 224 and CM 225 and Corequisite: CM 388

 

CM  331 STRUCTURAL STEEL SYSTEMS      (3)

Analyzes structural steel framework design and the associated erection procedures and welding techniques to facilitate assembly.  3 hrs. lecture.  Letter grade only.  Course fee required. Prerequisite: CM 220 with grade greater than or equal to C

CM  460 HEAVY CIVIL AND HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION      (3)

Means and methods of performing heavy civil construction such as dams, wastewater treatment, utility work, and highway, road, and bridge construction. Prerequisite: CM 329 with grade greater than or equal to C
