Content Emphasis English and Language Arts (for the B.S.Ed. elementary education)

If you are majoring in elementary education, you can count this emphasis toward your degree requirements. For more information, see the heading B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education within the Education section of this catalog.  

To complete this emphasis, take the following 18 units, with a grade of C or better in each course:  

• ENG 242 or 243 (3 units)  

• ENG 301W (3 units)  

• ENG 321 or 308 (3 units)  

• ENG 403 (3 units)  

• 6 units from ECI 302 and ENG 270, 271, 300, 308, 345, 400, 404, and 576 (We highly recommend ENG 300, 400, 404, and 576.)  

Be aware that some courses required for your content emphasis may have prerequisites that you must also take. Check the courses in the appropriate subject.
