Certificate Interdisciplinary Disability Policy and Practice

This academic plan prepares you to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team with individuals who have disabilities—across the lifespan and in educational, residential, employment, recreational, and day-program settings. Through this plan, you acquire interdisciplinary knowledge and skills, disability policy, exemplary models of service, family-focused practices, and individualized service planning through courses and practicum experiences that enable you to work with individuals with disabilities.

For this 12-unit certificate plan, take:

one of ESE 548, 634, and 649; EPS 702; or DIS 507 (3 units)

(Please note that if you demonstrate training or experience in the disability field, you may substitute a different course with your adviser’s approval.)

DIS 608 (or 608 in another discipline) (3-6 units)

DIS 698 (3 units)

If you choose, you may also take up to 3 units of interdisciplinary independent study or research study, using DIS 685 or 697 or thesis (699) units in your discipline.

Please be aware that some courses required for this certificate have prerequisites you must also take; check all course descriptions to find out.
