As an educator, you must be prepared to meet the needs of students in a technologically advancing world. Our Educational Technology area is designed to help you explore the use and integration of technology in instructional learning settings (using technology to support instruction), computer-aided learning, telecommunications, and multimedia. We support a bi-platform (Windows and Mac operating systems) teaching lab for students taking ETC 447 and our undergraduate courses, which provides you with experiential preparation in strategies for teaching in classrooms—whether equipped with just one computer or with state-of-the-art technology.
You may pursue the following graduate academic plans through the College of Education’s Educational Technology program:
Over the last several years, study after study has identified good pre-service and in-service education in technology as a pressing public school need. Many national reports cite the critical need for prospective and professional teachers to have training in technology. Indeed, classroom teachers are not only required to be proficient in using computer technology, but are also expected to understand and integrate a variety of technologies into their teaching methodology.
Our academic plans are based on the standards of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and the National Educational Technology (NETS), for both students and teachers, and will help prepare you to meet these expectations.
