NAU Policy on Acceptance of AGECs and TGECCs

AGECs

For best progression through any degree program, students should work with the transfer information available and a community college advisor to make the best course choices within an AGEC.

Completion of the AGEC will be fully applicable to most baccalaureate degrees, however, students completing the AGEC will still be required to fulfill lower-division requirements and prerequisites within their school or college and major/minor area of study. In order to most efficiently complete a degree program, students should select courses to meet the AGEC requirements that will also fulfill program requirements in the school/college and major they intend to pursue upon transfer.

Community college students who are undecided about which of the Arizona public universities they plan to attend or what program of study they intend to pursue are advised to complete the AGEC.

TGECCs

Transfer General Education Core Curriculum (TGECC) was the agreed upon common general education curriculum structure for transfer that preceded the AGEC. The TGECC is a 41-hour curriculum which, properly certified on transcripts, will continue to be accepted at NAU and will satisfy the liberal studies requirements.

Noncompletion of AGECs or TGECCs

If transfer students have not completed their AGEC or TGECC (with official certification on transcripts) courses will be evaluated on a course by course basis.
