Diversity Course Submission Process
(Arizona Community Colleges and Universities)
Diversity Background:
NAU has implemented the Diversity Requirement effective for all
undergraduate students beginning with the 2005-2006 catalog. Students
following catalogs prior to 2005-2006 are not required to meet this
requirement. It is a university requirement which can be met by taking
major, minor, liberal studies, or elective NAU courses that have been approved
as meeting the diversity requirement. The requirement is three hours of
US ethnic diversity and three hours of global diversity. Global diversity
is defined as "non-western". Courses at other institutions that have been
granted equivalency status to an NAU course that is on the Diversity
Course list will meet the diversity requirement.
Transfer students can also satisfy this requirement by
completion of the Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC).
To expand opportunities for students to complete
courses for the diversity requirement that have not completed an AGEC, prior to transfer, NAU has
implemented a process for Arizona community colleges and universities to
submit eligible courses for consideration for diversity area
designations to be submitted by the institutions ATAC member. Use the quick links below.
To check for equivalencies, use the
CEG.
