B.A. in Liberal Studies MAJOR
REQUIREMENTS |
| Student must have an emphasis of 18-28 hours. Generally,
but not exclusively, an emphasis has the same coursework requirements as
a minor offered by a college/school. |
| A focus of 15 hours of an individually structured
interdisciplinary or disciplinary program of study outside the students
emphasis field. These courses focus on a common field or theme and are
selected with the help of the students BAILS advisor. |

| A communication block of 23 hours as follows: |
| 3 hours of computer information or computer science
courses. |
| 6 hours of writing intensive courses beyond ENG 105. These
courses are selected with the help of the students BAILS advisor. |
| 6 hours of oral communication courses. These courses are
selected with the help of the students BAILS advisor. |
| 8 hours of modern or foreign language courses selected from
the same language. American Sign Language counts as fulfilling this
requirement. |

| A combined grade point average of 2.5 or better is required
for all emphasis and focus courses (averaged together). A 2.0 grade
point average in all work attempted at the university is required for
graduation. |
| No single course may be used to satisfy two or more
requirements. |
| This degree must include a minimum total of 36 hours or
upper division coursework, which may include the 12 hours of upper
division liberal studies. |
