Assignment Title:  Horticultural Assistant, 1700 hrs.

A botanical garden, nature center and research institution focusing on the biotic community of the Colorado Plateau.

AmeriCorps Member Responsibilities:

1. Member will assist in the recruitment, training, and management of garden volunteers at The Arboretum.

2. Member will work closely with the Director of Horticulture to design daily projects and will supervise teams of volunteers.

3. Member will provide educational opportunities for the public on low-water use landscaping practices.

4. Member will participate in community events and promote The Arboretum’s mission of wise stewardship of the natural environment.
 

AmeriCorps Member Qualifications:

1. Experience working with volunteers.

2. The ability to manage people and projects.

3. Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

4. Knowledge of horticultural practices.

5. Ability to lift 25 pounds; walk, stoop, raise arms above head, dig and shovel various materials; operate hand pruners, saws and various motorized equipment.
