Service Assignment Project

This assignment is expected to be completed over a 8-month period during the general business hours of 9-5, Mon-Fri. Serving a Substantiated Community Need, BOTHANDS is a comprehensive affordable housing program operating in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Flagstaff in operation for over 20 years.

The member will work under the supervision of the Housing Counselor and will work closely with staff, board members, and clients, as well as developing and maintaining partnerships with other agencies, businesses, and funders. The scope and impact of this position is supporting the housing programs including marketing support and direct client support.  The key support project for the organization is the annual fundraising breakfast held in April.

 Main Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain HomeCounselor online (housing database)
  • Manage educational materials for homebuyer/credit and budget and post purchase classes
  • Contact current, former and prospective clients & businesses to cultivate support
  • Provide support for educational classes-may include presentations
  • Maintain housing records and files
  • Share responsibility for answering the office phone along with all other office staff
  • Participate in fundraising event in consultation Dev. Director
  • General office admin duties when requested

Performance Measures:

  • Accuracy of reports, database and hard copy files
  • Demonstration of excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills leading to:

       Expanded participation of target markets and audiences

       Positive relationships developed and maintained with clients, funders, business and agency partners

 AmeriCorps Service Assignment Description:  

  1. Responsible for various aspects of housing program activities, including data & client support
  2. Assist and make appropriate referrals for walk-in and phone clients

AmeriCorps Member Qualifications:  

  1. Be a proficient user of Microsoft office suite, including excel, word
  2. Team oriented and committed to mission of the agency
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort with public presentations
  4. Ability to organize and prioritize work and work environments
  5. Available for flexible schedules including some weekends, early morning and/or evenings
  6. Self-directed and ability to work independently
  7. Ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel and reach with hands and arms, talk and hear
