“The mission of the Museum of Northern Arizona is to inspire a sense of love and responsibility for the beauty and diversity of the Colorado Plateau through collecting, interpreting and preserving the region’s natural and cultural heritage.”  The Museum is a non-profit organization that offers the public exhibits and educational programs to help them understand and appreciate the Colorado Plateau (the four corners region).  Museum research and collections departments increase scientific understanding of the region.     

AmeriCorps Service Assignment Description:

1. Work with Education and Facilities staff to prepare and run 3 Native American (Zuni, Navajo and Hopi)) weekend Festivals of Art and Culture.
2. Install and maintain native plant landscaping.
3. Remove invasive exotic plants from the Museum campus.
4. Remove potential wildfire fuels.
5. Repair, paint and maintain historic buildings.
6. General landscape maintenance.
7. Work on other Facilities Department projects as needed.
 

AmeriCorps Member Qualifications:

1. Temperament: Honesty, a good work ethic, and a positive point of view.
2. Enjoy physical outdoor work.
3. Interest in learning about and preserving the natural and cultural history of the Colorado Plateau.
4. Ability to lift 50 pounds, ability to climb a ladder.
5. Ability to work festival weekends.
