Kinship Kare of Northern Arizona, KKONA, a program of Coconino Cooperative Extension ¬ Location of organization: Flagstaff (2304 N Third St.) ¬ Website of organization: cals.arizona.edu/grandparents ¬ Brief description of organization: KKONA provides outreach and education programs to kin caregivers ¬ Title of AmeriCorps service assignment: KKONA Program Assistant AmeriCorps Service Assignment Description: 1. Work with a team to create and provide informal educational programs for grandfamilies (i.e. grandparents and relatives who are caring for family members’ children) 2. Assist with producing a web page, newsletter, facebook and other promotional materials to increase knowledge of grandfamily issues and opportunities 3. Be a member of a team to deliver training to volunteers who provide service to kin caregivers 4. Link caregivers to resources by making community referrals 5. Travel with KKONA Coordinators to support and represent the KKONA program 6. Facilitate local community and state discussions, advisory meetings, agency inservices to raise awareness of grandfamily issues 7. Assist with community task force on Children of Incarcerated Parents AmeriCorps Member Qualifications: 1. Computer knowledge that may include publishing/design software 2. Some experience with community organizing 3. Knowledge of events planning and/or informal educational outreach 4. Some training and or facilitation experience Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends 5. Research and resource gathering skills. |
