Introduces U.S. Army, roles, history and organization.  Introduces basic officer competencies.  Teaches basic fitness, interpersonal communications, values, ethics, unique duties and responsibilities of an officer.

MS 102 - Basic Leadership- 1 CR (Fall/Spring)

Introduces general model of problem solving.  Teaches basic skills underlying effective problem solving.  Introduces fundamental leadership concepts.  Examines factors that influence leader and group effectiveness.  

MS 130 - Leadership Lab - 1 CR (Fall)

 Military leadership and small unit tactics.  Develops leadership abilities through practical applications and challenging outdoor activities.

MS 131 - Leadership Lab - 1 CR (Spring)

Continuation of MS 130.

MS 150 - Army Physical Fitness Training - 1 CR (Fall)

Physical fitness training techniques designed to prepare for a graduated diagnostic test  (FM 21-20).  This class will challenge you and get you into some of the best shape of your life.

MS 201 Leadership and Teamwork- 2 CR (Fall)

Introduces principles and techniques of effective written and oral communication. Basic Land Navigation training. Teaches practical leader skills.  Examines principles of subordinate motivation and organizational change.  Applies leadership and problem solving principles to case studies.

 

MS 202 Intro to Tactics and Officership- 2 CR (Spring)

Introduces basic tactical principles. Operation order process, Troop Leading Procedures and small unit tactics. Examines the foundations, duties and functions of officers.

Military Leadership and small unit tactics.  Develops leadership abilities through practical application and challenging and outdoor activities.

U.S. Army Training management, military justice, U.S. Army Personnel system, leadership, written and oral communications, and preparing for commissioning. (Prerequisite: Completion of MS-401 or by arrangement with the Professor of Military Science)
