
Senior Military Science Instructor
My
name is 1SG McClinton, Rodney F. I originally joined the National
Guard in APR 1984 in Chicago, IL on the delayed entry program.
Shortly after joining, I went to basic training at FT Jackson, SC
and went on to become a combat medic in the NG, part of the 703rd
Medical Company in Chicago, IL. After a year of attending college I
decided to join the Army. I enlisted in SEP 1985 and went to FT
Knox, KY to become a Tanker. Upon completion, I was sent to
Schweinfurt, Germany, D CO 3-64 AR. While in Schweinfurt, I
served with the aforementioned D CO 3-64 AR as a tank loader, driver
and gunner; with D CO 2-64 AR as a tank gunner, Tank Commander, and
Company Master gunner; with D CO 1-77 AR as Company Master Gunner
and Platoon Sergeant; with HHC 1-77 AR as Battalion Master Gunner;
and with B CO 1-77 AR as Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant. My
next duty assignment was to Newberry, SC to be a part of 3rd/307th
AC/RC. I was assigned to work directly with the NG at their Armory
in Mullins, SC. After that, I was reassigned to Vilseck, Ge in Jun
03 where I performed duties as 1SG in B CO 2-63 AR. After returning
from OIF II, I was reassigned as the BDE OPS SGM and then assigned
to my current position as HHC 2-63 AR 1SG.
My deployments include Peacekeeper 95, Bosnia in OCT 1996, Kosovo in JUN 1999, and OIF II in FEB 2004.
My awards include the BSM, the MSM with 2 oak leaf clusters, the ARCOM with 6 oak leaf clusters, the AAM with 13 oak leaf clusters, AGCM, NDSM, AFEM, KCM, ICM, GWTSM, AFSM, NCOPD with numeral 3, ASR, OSR with numeral 5, NATO Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Valorous Unit Award, and the Army Superior Unit Award.
My schooling includes 1SG’s Course, ANCOC, BNCOC, PLDC, and Tank Master Gunner Course. I am currently working on finishing the courses I need for my Associate Degree in Applied Computer Science in Business.
I have mentioned plenty of Army accomplishments, but none of that would have been possible without my loving and supporting family.
I know ROTC will be challenging and I always look to things that will challenge me to be better than I am. I look forward to serving as part of the NAU ROTC team.

Thomas L. Dombrovski, born
in 1948 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Attended St. Cloud
Technical High school and graduated in 1966. Enlisted
the United States Marine Corps in May of 1966 and served
for three years. One year eight months were spent in
Vietnam. Was discharged from active duty in 1969.
Attended St. Cloud School of business for two years.
Went to work for the 409th Infantry in St. Cloud as a
administrative supply Technician until January of 1976.
Went to work for 4th ROTC Region to the present date
with duty at St. Johns University in Collegeville, MN,
University of Nebraska L (Kearney) and Northern Arizona
University in Flagstaff, AZ. Hobbies are fishing, hunting and cribbage. |

Assistant Professor of Military Science-Training and Operations Officer
Robbin Hafen, originally from Bliss, Idaho , was commissioned a 2LT of Armor in May 1996 from the University of Idaho where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Secondary Education.
After attending the Armor Officer Basic Course, he served as a Tank Platoon Leader with the A Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment in Fort Hood , Texas . As a tank platoon leader, he deployed to Kuwait of in support of an Intrinsic Action Rotation. Later he served as the Company Executive Officer for B Company, 3-8 Cavalry. In November 1999 Captain Hafen was assigned to 3rd Brigade 1st Cavalry Division as an Assistant S3 for Plans. In June 2000 Captain Hafen deployed again for a Kuwait Intrinsic Action Rotation as the Officer-in-Charge for the 3rd Brigade Emergency Operations Center at Camp Doha .
Captain Hafen arrived at Fort Irwin in July 2001 and was assigned to 1st Squadron, 11th ACR as the as the S4 Logistics Officer and later as an Assistant S3. He assumed Command of A Troop, 11th ACR in October of 2003. In January 2005 as A Troop Commander he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as part of TF 2-11 ACR. In April 2005 he left Command in Southern Iraq to serve on the Division-level staff of MNF-NW in Mosul . In December of 2005 Captain Hafen returned to Ft. Irwin to serve as the Regimental Plans Officer for the 11th ACR. In July 2006 Major Hafen was assigned to the Lumberjack Battalion here at NAU.
Major Hafen’s military education includes the Armor Officer Basic Course, Armor Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms Staff Service School , and Cavalry Leaders Course. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Parachutist Badge.

Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) C. Andrew Griffin
Lieutenant Colonel C. Andrew Griffin was born in Cordele, Georgia. He
is a 1978 honors graduate of The Citadel, Charleston, South Carolina,
from which he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political
Science. Upon his graduation, he was designated a Distinguished
Military Graduate and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.
His military education includes the Military Intelligence Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the United States Army Command and General Staff College, the Combined Arms and Staff Service School; the Special Forces Qualification Course; the Airborne Course; and the Air Assault Course. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Business Management from Troy State (Ala.) University and a Doctoral degree in Education from Northern Arizona University.
Lieutenant Colonel Griffin has held a wide variety of command and staff assignments. His previous assignments include service with the 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; intelligence assignments in Germany to include command of a counter-intelligence detachment in Kaiserslautern; Signal Intelligence Officer, 6th U.S. Army, The Presidio, San Francisco, California; Company Commander, 125th Military Intelligence Battalion, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Intelligence Officer, HHC, 1st Brigade, Schofield Barracks; Officer-in-Charge, Joint Intelligence Center, Atlantic Command, Norfolk, Virginia; and Executive Officer of a Military Intelligence battalion at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, with a six month tour of duty in Somalia as the commander of the Central Command Intelligence Detachment (Forward); Operations Officer, 650th Military Intelligence Group and, subsequently, as a member of the NATO staff , Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), Brussels, Belgium. LTC Griffin retired, with 22 years of service, from the U.S. Army in June, 2000, following a two year tour as the Commander, St. Louis Recruiting Battalion.
His awards and decorations include: The Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; the Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters; the Joint Service Commendation Medal; the Army Commendation Medal; the Joint Service Achievement Medal; the Joint Meritorious Unit Award; the Army Achievement Medal; the National Defense Service Medal; the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal; the Special Forces Tab; the Parachute Badge; and the Air Assault Badge.
Lieutenant Colonel John Nelson
Lieutenant Colonel John Nelson was commissioned as a Signal Corps Officer in 1989 after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He has served in a variety of assignments as a Signal Officer, from platoon leader to battalion operations officer. He has deployed in support of Operation Urgent Fury, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Southern Watch, and Operation Enduring Freedom.
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), the Kuwait Liberation Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
Lieutenant Colonel Nelson graduated from the Signal Officer Basic Course, the Signal Officer Advanced Courses, Command and General Staff College, Airborne School, Air Assault School, the Telecommunications Operator Officers Course, and the Jungle Warfare School.
His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science in International Relations from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Arts in English from Oregon State University, and a Doctorate in Comparative Literature from the University of Washington.
