CPT Federico Vazquez - AZ Army National Guard Liaison

CPT Federico Vazquez began his military service when he enlisted in the Idaho Army National Guard November 1999 and reported to Fort Knox KY for basic combat training in 2000. CPT Vazquez finished basic training and advance individual training in February 2001. He returned to the Idaho Army National Guard and was assigned to C Troop 2-116th Armored Reconnaissance Squadron (ARS) located on Gowen Field in Boise Idaho. CPT Vazquez graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in December 2005 and was branched Armor and left for Fort Knox KY in April 2006 where he attended and completed Mounted Officer Basic Course and Scout Leaders Course. CPT Vazquez returned to Idaho and was assigned as a Scout Platoon Leader with the 2-116th ARS. In 2008 CPT Vazquez did an interstate transfer to the Arizona Army National Guard and was sent to Captains Career Course in December of that same year, completing Logistics Captain Career Course at Aberdeen proving grounds Maryland. In 2009 CPT Vazquez deployed with the 3666th Support Maintenance Company (SMC) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where the unit was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation.

CPT Vazquez has served as a Squad Leader with C Troop 2-116th ARS, Platoon Leader C Troop 2-116th ARS, S-1 OIC for Task Force Yuma Operation Jump Start, Platoon Leader 3666th SMC, Maintenance Control Officer 3666th SMC, Executive Officer 3666th SMC, Company Commander 3666th SMC, Battalion S-3 158th Combat Support Sustainment Battalion.

CPT Vazquez's awards include the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device, Arizona Service Ribbon, Idaho Recruiting Ribbon, and Idaho Service Ribbon.
