MAJ Alan L. Simpkins - APMS Executive Officer
Major Alan L. Simpkins was commissioned an Armor Officer in 1999 through the University of Wyoming ROTC program, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administration of Justice. After attending the Armor Officer basic course at Ft. Knox, KY, he was assigned to C/1-68 Armor Bn, 3BCT, 4ID at Ft. Carson, CO. MAJ Simpkins has had assignments on Active duty, in the Select Reserve, as a Mobilized Reservist and is currently on active duty in the Active Guard/Reserve (AGR) program. His assignments include duty with: HHC/ 1-68 AR, 5025th GSU, and 1st Mobilization Brigade at Ft. Carson, CO; 96th Regional Readiness Command in Salt Lake City, UT; and HHC/244th Engineer Bn (Combat Heavy) in Denver, CO. MAJ Simpkins has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Noble Eagle performing duties as Tank Platoon Leader, Support Platoon Leader, Scout Platoon Leader, Assistant S-3, USAR Training Officer, Brigade Logistics Officer (S-4), Brigade Adjutant (S-1), Engineer Plans Officer and Battalion Operations Officer (S-3). His military education includes Armor Officer basic course, Scout leader's course, Engineer Officer Advanced Course, Joint Engineer Operations Course, Combat Arms and Services Staff School, and Airborne school. MAJ Simpkins holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Administration of Justice and is pursuing a Masters degree in Security Management (MSM). MAJ Simpkins' awards and decorations include the Bronze Star medal, Meritorious Service medal, Army Commendation medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service medal with bronze star, Iraq Campaign medal with 2 bronze stars, Global war on Terrorism Service medal, Armed Forces Reserve medal with "M" device, Army Service medal, Overseas Service ribbon, Expert Infantryman's badge, Combat Action badge, Parachutist badge, and the Gold German Armed Forces Athletic badge.
