Arts Outreach Program

Sponsored by the Northern Arizona University's College of Arts & Letters and the NAU Art Museum

The NAU Art Museum has begun an Arts Outreach Program for teachers and students in the Flagstaff Unified School District. The Program is designed to help K-12 teachers in Art, English, History and Social Studies understand and appreciate the works of art featured in the Museum's annual exhibition schedule the in-service training workshops preceding each exhibition will enable teachers to prepare their students for field trips to the Museum.

Dear Art Teachers and Educators,

We would like to bring you up to date on some of the educational and cultural opportunities that are available to you and your students at the NAU Art Museum. Currently, in the main galleries, we have on display our first Biennial Juried Ceramics Exhibition, an exhibit representing artists from across the country that highlights a variety of new and traditional techniques. This exhibition runs through the 19th of September, 2009.

Opening October 21, 2009 and continuing through December 19, 2009, the NAU Art Museum will present the Right to Print exhibition, organized by the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and curated by associate curator Cassandra Coblentz, sponsored by Eric Jungermann and Family, Alice and David Olsan, and the SMoCA Salon. This exhibit features works from celebrated artists such as Judy Chicago, Keith Haring, Luis Jiménez and James Turrell. All of the artworks in this collection were produced in collaboration with Arizona's own Joseph Segura and Segura Publishing Company.

We would like to invite you and your students to take advantage of our events. We are open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, however, we are more than happy to accommodate tours at other times with prior arrangements. Our museum employees are available to guide groups of all ages through the galleries and to lead discussions about the artworks and the processes used to create them. We encourage you to arrange a visit and share the creative world of art with your students.

We hope to see you soon!

Thank you,

The Director and Staff
of the NAU Art Museum
