Laboratory 4:  Osmosis and Cell Motility

This is lab will focus on two kinds of passive transport, diffusion and osmosis.  These forms of transport allow water and other substances to move in and out of cells through the plasma membrane.  Students will create a model of a cell to demonstrate movement through diffusion and osmosis.  The second part of the lab will address locomotion techniques of protists from the Phyla Rhizopoda, Sarcomastigophora, Ciliaphora, and Apicomplexa.
