Module 3:  Enzymes

Laboratory 8:  Building and breaking down polysaccharides

This laboratory begins the module on the study of enzymes.  You will begin your study by learning about the complex macromolecules that make up the structures of cells.  Polysaccharides are long chains (polymers) of many sugar units linked together.  You will then expand your study to examine the breakdown of a polysaccharide (starch) by the enzyme amylase.
