Q. How do I submit payments?

Q. Where do I pay for meal plans and Dining Dollar (formerly called "flexi") accounts?

A. To pay meal plan and Dining Dollar charges on your NAU LOUIE account, (see above: "How do I submit a payment?)  Some dining accounts are not maintained on LOUIE and can be paid at the Dining Services Office on the first floor of the University Union or by phone at (928) 523-2372.

Q. How do I add money to my Mountain Campus Express Card?

A. Call (928) 523-5662 or www.nau.edu/naucard

Q. When are my tuition and fees due?

A. Check the Bursar's Tuition Due Dates & Payment Methods to find what date your tuition and fees are due.  

Q. Does NAU offer a tuition payment plan?

A. Yes.  Please visit www4.nau.edu/bursar/tpp.asp

FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION

Q. Is my financial aid available?

A. Please check LOUIE at Finances>View Financial Aid

Q. How do I ensure my financial aid will pay my tuition?

A. You are responsible for making sure you have met all disbursement requirements such as:

  • Register for anticipated number of hours
  • Direct Loans:  Turn in completed Master Promissory Note and complete on-line entrance counseling.
  • Make sure there are no service indicators (holds) on your account that are designed to prevent financial aid disbursement.
  • If your financial aid is less than your tuition, you must pay the difference.

If any of the above prevent financial aid from disbursing by the payment deadline, your tuition will be subject to Automatic Tuition Payment Plan, thus incurring a non-refundable service fee of $50.

REFUNDING

Q. When will my excess financial aid be refunded?

A. After all current account charges are deducted, the excess will be refunded to you.  The first refunding of the term takes place approximately one week before the Mountain Campus term begins.  Refunding occurs daily during the term.

Q. Why should I sign up for Direct Deposit?

A. It's the fastest, easiest, and most secure way to receive your excess financial aid.  LOUIE: Direct Deposit

Q. I have not signed up for Direct Deposit, how will my financial aid be refunded?

A. By mail, to your Refund Address.  Checks are not available for in-person pick up.

Q. If I drop classes, when would I receive my tuition refund?

A. We begin issuing tuition refunds after the 2nd week of the Mountain Campus regular term.

Q. How will I receive account refunds?

A. Refunds are direct deposited.  If you have not signed up for direct deposit, we will mail you a check to your refund address.  If paid on-line with a Visa, Mastercard, American Express or JCB credit card, a refund will be credited to your card.

TAX INFORMATION

Q. How can I obtain a copy of my 1098-T form?

A. Your 1098-T form is mailed to your permanent address (please update on LOUIE by early January)  If you need a second copy, you may request it to be mailed or you may pick it up at the Bursar's Office in Gammage.  

Q. How do I find out about the Hope Scholarship and Lifetime Learning Tax Credits.

A. To get information about these, please contact the IRS Public Liaison at (800) 829-1040 or consult your tax advisor.

OTHER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Where is the Office of the Bursar located?

A. The office is located in the Gammage Building, Main Lobby.

Q. How do I officially withdraw from the University?

A. During the open drop period, you can withdraw on LOUIE by dropping to zero hours.  After the open drop period, if you have received financial aid, you must withdraw through the Financial Aid Office.  Otherwise, you may withdraw through the Registrar's Office.

Q. I'm a parent of a student and I pay all the bills, why can't I have the details of my student's account?

A. The Bursar's Office is legally bound by FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulations that prevent us from releasing information to anyone other than the student. For details on charges or available financial aid, please check with your student.

Q. My bank said that the check I wrote to you was returned. What should I do?

A. NAU's bank will submit an NSF check twice before it is returned to the Bursar's Office for collection.  A $25.00 return check fee will be assessed to your account.  Please check your account on LOUIE or contact your Bursar Office Account Representative.
