Computer Replacement Policy
The long-term goal of the DeanŐs office coordination of IT support in the college is to attain technological parity across the units, to the extent possible. The Associate Dean and the IT staff will, on a yearly basis, inventory the computers that are used by both faculty and staff. Furthermore, the Associate Dean will meet with each chair/director to review the inventory and discuss priorities. As funds become available for the purchasing of new computers in the college, the DeanŐs office will assess the needs in the college as a whole and determine where new units will be placed. Additionally, the DeanŐs office will determine where and to whom the computers being replaced are to be recycled. Clearly, many computers being replaced will be technologically obsolete, and shipped off to surplus. Those that have value can be given to small enterprises/projects and personnel that have computer needs.
