Scholarships for Undergraduate Students Only

Below you will find a list of COE Scholarships that are normally distributed each year.  The list below is for undergraduate students only.

Scholarships for Undergraduate Students Only
Drs. Margaret A. (Cibik) Hughes & Eugene M. Hughes College of Education Scholarship
  1. Undergraduate student, at the sophomore level or above, who has declared Education as his/her major (or minor for those planning to teach at the high school level)
  2. Minimum grade point average at the University level of 3.0 (where A = 4.0)
  3. Meets or exceeds, each academic year, the Academic Progress Standards used by the Government for students receiving Federal Grants/Aid
  4. Renewable for maximum of three years if the award begins at the sophomore level, and or "pro-rated" thereafter if initially awarded to a student above the sophomore level, i.e., renewal for two years if awarded for the junior level or one year if awarded to a senior
  5. Preference will be given to students who have not received other scholarships or "gift aid" (with the exception of a Federal Grant)
Cheryl Ann Babb Memorial Scholarship Fund
  1. Attending the Flagstaff main campus
  2. Declared intent to become an education degree major
  3. Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  4. Show a record of extra-curricular involvement or community service
  5. First preference will go to a member of the NAU football team, if no football team member is eligible, another NAU athletics member will receive preference
Helen V. Wren Memorial Elementary Education Scholarship
  1. Admitted to Teacher Education Program
  2. Must be elementary education major
  3. Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
  4. Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate (12 or more credit hours)
  5. Consideration in personal character (organizational activities, leadership roles, service to others, etc)
  6. Preference to Arizona High School graduates
  7. Must be a US citizen
Weitzel/Wren Elementary Scholarship
  1. Junior or senior elementary education major (60 completed credit hours or more)
  2. Cumulative GPA of 2.5
  3. Preference shall be given to students with an impressive academic history and strong personal character
John and Louise Utley Education Scholarship
  1. Majoring in academic discipline within COE
  2. Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate (12 semester hours or more) student
  3. Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the time of selection
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen
Tuffy and Enid Rice Memorial Scholarship
  1. Full-time enrollment (12 hours or more)
  2. U.S. Citizen
  3. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the time of selection
  4. Junior or senior standing
  5. Admitted into the Teacher Education
Christa A. McAuliffe/Challenger Scholarship
  1. Undergraduate student
  2. Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
  3. Admitted into the Teacher Education Program
  4. Special consideration given to student with  financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid
Rick Morrison Memorial Scholarship
  1. Citizen of U.S.
  2. Resident of the State of Arizona
  3. A junior or senior student majoring in Education
  4. GPA of 3.0 or above
Wilfred & Joyce Killip Family Scholarship
  1. Graduated from a Flagstaff District High School
  2. Undergraduate, majoring in education (future teacher)
  3. Minimum cumulative GPA of  2.0 or above
Raymond Kellis CEE Scholarship
  1. Education major
  2. Junior standing
  3. Minimum 2.5 GPA
  4. Goal toward teaching career
  5. Financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid
Daniel J. and Jane A. Pierce Julian Scholarship
  1. Enrolled as an education major at NAU.
  2. Achieve and maintain a grade point average of 2.8 or higher (where A = 4.0); and
  3. Preference will be given to graduates of a Flagstaff public high school
Charles Fauset Teacher Education Scholarship
  1. Must be a senior or fifth year student
  2. Admitted into Teacher Education Program
  3. Arizona resident
  4. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  5. Financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid is a primary consideration
Doris Dunford Memorial Scholarship
  1. First year students who graduated from Flagstaff High School with a declared interest in becoming a teacher in any field and enrolled in the preeducation major.
  2. The recipient should demonstrate interest and ability to succeed both in the classroom and the community.
  3. Minimum GPA of 3.0
  4. Financial need is not a consideration.
  5. If the student continues progress toward becoming a teacher, he/she will be awarded this scholarship annually for four years. If the student  does not uphold these standards, the scholarship will be awarded to another first year student.
Virginia Coffey Scholarship/Delta Kappa Gamma
  1. Preference shall be given to women who come from the geographical area close to Sun City.
  2. Majoring in Education
  3. Junior or senior standing
  4. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  5. Financial need documented through NAU Financial Aid office.
Silverio T. Barreras Scholarship
  1. Student must be a graduate of Miami High School, Miami AZ.
  2. Undergraduate, admitted into the Teacher Education Program at NAU.
  3. Majoring in elementary or secondary education.
  4. Preference given to students demonstrating financial need as determined by the office of financial aid
Margaret H. Clements Scholarship
  1. Junior or senior standing
  2. Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above
  3. Education Major
  4. Financial Need NOT required
  5. Selected on merit or academic potential
Mary Lou Thompson (Arnold) Scholarship
  1. Admitted into Teacher Education Program
  2. Elementary education major
  3. Junior or senior standing
  4. Need is NOT to be a factor
Lillian Jane Baker Teacher Education Fund
  1. The recipient must be enrolled in the College of Education
  2. Must be a junior or senior
  3. Must have selected elementary level or early childhood teaching as their intended career.
