NAU proudly offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of current and future science teachers. The Center for Science Teaching and Learning has taken on the pivotal role of coordinating program offerings between two colleges and seven academic departments. The CSTL coordinates teacher-certification programs at the undergraduate, graduate and post-baccalaureate levels and also offers graduate-level programs developed for practicing teachers.
The
NAUTeach Program provides teacher certification preparation coursework for future mathematics and science teachers through the Bachelor of Science Secondary Education (BSEd) Degree Plans from the College of Engineering, Forestry and Natural Science. BSEd Degrees are available from the Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics and Physics Departments for certification to teach secondary levels (grades 7-12) Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, General Science, Mathematics, or Physics.
The Master of Education with Secondary Certification (MEd Certification) Degree program is offered through the College of Education for students who have an undergraduate degree in a science field and want to pursue teacher certification.
The Master of Arts in Science Teaching (MAST) Degree program is offered through the College of Engineering, Forestry and Natural Science and is designed for science teachers who would like to expand their science teaching skills and attain maximum flexibility in teaching and career advancement.
The Master of Education (MEd) Degree program is offered through the College of Education for practicing teachers. This program provides an opportunity to pursue additional coursework in an academic area while strengthening understandings of educational concepts.
Online Science and Mathematics Teacher Certification coursework is offered for people who have a degree in a science, mathematics or engineering field and are interested in obtaining teacher certification.
