Currently Seeking Eight Great Teaching Teams... Apply Today!
The Northern Arizona Power of Data (POD) project empowers teachers to implement interdisciplinary, project-based learning modules with an Earth science focus. The modules will teach students science and math concepts through data analysis using geographic information systems (GIS) software. Students will collect and analyze their own data to solve a local problem, and then use GIS and the internet to communicate their ideas.
A team of one secondary CTE teacher and one Science or Math teacher from the same school must apply together. Each participant will receive a $1000 stipend, online and on-site program support, the option of graduate credit, GIS software site licenses, data collection devices, and books for their schools. Training will occur over seven weekend professional development institutes from the end of October through June.
Support for this project has been provided by
Science Foundation Arizona and
ESRI.
