Foster Grandparent Program
Mission: To provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for low income persons age 60 and older and to provide care, guidance, friendship and educational assistance to children with special or exceptional needs.
Services:
- Volunteers serve 20 hours a week at local organization having a youth clientele (such as Head Start Centers, elementary schools, hospitals, etc.).
- Foster Grandparents receive:
- a $2.55 hourly stipend
- training
- transportation
- lunches
- paid vacation and sick leave
- mileage reimbursement to volunteers from home to clients home (roundtrip)
- secondary insurance coverage while volunteering
- an annual physical assessment and
o recognition for their services
- Available in Coconino, Yavapai, Navajo and Apache Counties and on the Hopi and White Mountain Apache Reservations
Qualifications: Volunteers must be 60 years old or over and low income. Youth need to be within an organization serving those from newborns to age 21.
Fees: None.
Operating Hours:
8am-5pm, Monday-Friday;
Summer hours 7:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday
