Foster Grandparent Program

Mission: To provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for low income persons age 60 and older and to provide care, guidance, friendship and educational assistance to children with special or exceptional needs.

Services:

  • Volunteers serve 20 hours a week at local organization having a youth clientele (such as Head Start Centers, elementary schools, hospitals, etc.).
  • Foster Grandparents receive:
    • a $2.55 hourly stipend
    • training
    • transportation
    • lunches
    • paid vacation and sick leave
    • mileage reimbursement to volunteers from home to client’s home (roundtrip)
    • secondary insurance coverage while volunteering
    • an annual physical assessment and
      o recognition for their services
  • Available in Coconino, Yavapai, Navajo and Apache Counties and on the Hopi and White Mountain Apache Reservations

Qualifications: Volunteers must be 60 years old or over and low income. Youth need to be within an organization serving those from newborns to age 21.

Fees: None.

8am-5pm, Monday-Friday;
Summer hours 7:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday
