Senior Companion Program

Mission: To provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for low income persons age 60 and older and to provide companionship services to homebound (50+) elderly.

Services: Volunteers serve 20 hours a week and provide companionship and support services to elderly shut-ins and recently discharged acute care patients who might have to be institutionalized otherwise.

Senior Companions receive:

  • a $2.55 hourly stipend
  • training
  • transportation
  • lunches
  • paid vacation and sick leave
  • secondary insurance coverage while volunteering
  • mileage reimbursement to volunteers from home to client’s home (roundtrip)
  • an annual physical assessment and
  • recognition for their services
    • Available in Coconino, Yavapai, Navajo and Apache Counties and on the Hopi and White Mountain Apache Reservations


Qualifications
: Volunteers must be 60 years old or over and low income. Clients need to be a client of partner organizations or we can refer, homebound, and age 50 and over. If under 50, the director must approve service.

Fees: None.

Operating Hours:
8am-5pm, Monday-Friday;
Summer hours 7:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday
