The B.S.Ed. in Career and Technical Education, Technology Education emphasis degree is designed for those who desire to teach technology or trades courses in a 7-12 grade setting.  Upon successful completion of this degree, and successfully passing appropriate AEPA exams,  the student would be eligible to receive secondary education certification in Industrial Technology in the State of Arizona.  In addition, with 2000 clock hours of work experience in a trades area, the student would also be eligible to receive Career and Technicial Education Industrial Technology certification in the State of Arizona.

APPROVED PROGRAM OF STUDY: Courses selected with the approval of the advisor. 120-hour plan.

University Liberal Studies (35 Hours minimum):  Requirements are determined by the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies.
Summary of Liberal Studies Requirements
  • Foundation Requirements (7 credits)
    • 4 credits of English 105
    • 3 credits of Math
  • Distribution Requirements (28 credits)
    • 7 credits of Science (to include at least one Lab Science)
    • 6 credits of Social and Political Worlds
    • 6 credits of Aesthetic and Humanistic Inquiry
    • 6 credits of Cultural Understanding
    • 3 additional credits of any liberal studies distribution course
  • Optional Freshman Seminar (3 credits)
    • One optional freshman seminar may be used in the distribution block to which the topic most appropriately applies. (Effective AY07-08)

    Secondary Education Requirements (31 hours) - may be taken individually or asterisked courses may be taken as a block in "I-Step" the semester before student teaching.  Alternatively, the courses are sequenced to allow completion over two years of summer school.
