NAU has a Masters in Education, Secondary Certification Emphasis available. By completing this program you fulfill the requirements to receive a secondary education teaching certificate and earn your Masters degree as well. The program can be completed on the Flagstaff campus, or through the alternative certification program in Phoenix. The CTE Certification areas require 9 hours of CTE "Professional Content" approved by your CTE advisor. The required courses including CTE Foundations (CTE599 or CTE500), History and Philosophy of CTE (CTE591), and Methods of CTE (CTE465). Substitutions of these courses can be made with PRIOR approval of you content area advisor. CTE areas for post-degree certification include: Business/Marketing, Industrial Technology, and Family and Consumer Sciences. Industrial Technology encompasses many occupational areas such as automotives, building trades, information technology, and more. You need to have a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate vocational field (such as Business, Computers, Family and Consumer Sciences, etc.) or have a Bachelor's degree and 30 hours of appropriate credit in your content area.
