What does all this talk about Sustainability REALLY have to do with me and my own health and wellness???
Sustainability simply means to be able to maintain something over a period of time. It's generally used to relate to environmental issues, ecology, resource conservation, and carbon footprint. We are certainly becoming aware of global warming, and many of us are looking at how we, as human beings, can help turn things around to ensure the future of all living creatures and the survival of the planet. Even the idea of Individual or Personal Sustainability has developed in relation to these ideas. "How much energy do we use at home, at work, in travel," we ask ourselves more and more. We are acutely aware of the limited amounts of renewable resources we have available, and it becomes more frightening and disillusioning each year. There is more. How, in the face of all this, can we maintain our own health and resilience so that we can figure out how this all relates to my own life? Balancing work and personal life has always been hard, now we have to turn our attention to this???
It's inescapable, but so important, that we be open to examining some of our habits, and doing whatever is necessary. The world is full of wonderful resources that can teach us practical ways to do our part.
Please check out our Wellness at Your Desk series for things you can practice right now that can make you feel better immediately!!!
