Parent Support During the Program |
 |
Parents can provide a wealth of support for their student when he or she goes off to the Summer Program. Five weeks can be a long time to be away from family and friends. The following includes ways for parents to stay active in their student's life during the Summer Program as well as some of the family-centered events we host each summer. |
 |
Contact |
Mail is delivered daily, phone rooms are available in the evenings, and students have the opportunity to check their e-mail many times duing the day. Keep your students up to date with family news and find out what they are up to in the Program. |
Evenings & Weekends |
Authorized family members are free to check their student out of the program for the evening or for the weekend as long as the student does not miss academics or lights-out times. For those of you who live farther away, please note that there is a three day weekend at the start of July. |
Check-In Day & Orientation |
Check your student into the program and help them get settled in their dorm room. Plan to stay for the afternoon when we will provide an overview of program expectations through our Parent & Student Orientation. |
Parents' Day |
Parents' Day will be held Friday, July 2nd this year. This is a great time to see what your student is doing in the program, hear from other parents, and see presentations on how to apply to college. Monday, July 5th is a holiday, so parents can check their student out for the three-day weekend at the close of Parents' Day activities. |
Research Symposium |
Students present their research findings from the Summer Program in a professional forum practicing their speaking skills while using some of the latest visual technology. |
Graduation |
Cheer your student on as they cross the stage at the successful completion of the Summer Program. Student speakers share their thoughts on the program, present a slideshow of the summer and receive their diplomas. A Luncheon Reception follows on the lawn outside. |
Want to participate more? We welcome parents to join in our evening activites or even lead some of their own.
