Asthma Case Studies: The Fading Basketball Star
Additional Information

The Benally family lives on the main road on to the reservation. Most of the homes in their community are heated with wood or coal. Many people commute to work off the reservation between 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The day before Tavis had to stop playing ball, the brothers had to spend the whole afternoon chopping wood because their mom heard it was going to be especially cold. Later that night, the Benally cousins (and their dogs) arrived to stay for the weekend basketball tournament. Sometimes all the boys like to sneak off from the house and smoke cigarettes.
