AQCP Curricular Standards
Overview of Standards:
As the social and political pressure for improvement in student school performance increases, teachers are
required to design their classroom experiences using national, state, and local standards. Problem-based
learning (PBL) provides educators with the opportunity to address many of the teaching, content and assessment
standards simultaneously. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of PBL, the standards can be met in many
content areas, such as science, language arts, mathematics, social studies, health, and technology. In essence,
teachers can use their required standards to design PBL experiences. These Air Quality Curriculum materials
provide an excellent theme for conducting PBL.
The applicable standards for each content area can be accessed using
