Hello. We are part of the Summer Scholars
Program. We have been learning about haze in the Grand Canyon. This whole
week that we've been here, we have been researching to find information about
the haze in the Grand Canyon. This week we found information on and off campus.
We went to the Cline Library, we tried to find information on the second
floor at special collections. There was lots of information, but we never
had time to research everything while taking notes. Our first trip we
went to Cholla Power Plant and found out what caused pollution in the air.
We ate at the park and walked by Cholla Lake. Some of us almost fell in.
We did on campus research, calling every professional person that knows
about haze in the Grand Canyon. We also searched on the internet and tried
to find pictures. We went to Fort Valley Forest and learned about trees
and how old they were. Back in the old days there weren't as much trees
as today, because the Native Americans used to burn the trees. We arrived
at the Grand Canyon and it was nice. We learned and saw intruments that find
how thick the haze is and where it is coming from. This whole week
we learned lots of stuff, and we had fun on our free time. |
