Grand Canyon
Introduction:

This week I did a research, which was about the haze in Grand Canyon and how the haze effects the birds that live in Grand Canyon. As part of the research, we went to the Cholla Power Plant, the Fort Valley Experimental Forest, and the Grand Canyon as part of field trips. People come to the Grand Canyon to see the canyon not the haze, which is one of the reasons why I researched haze in Grand Canyon.
The reason why I want to help the birds is because of the eagle, which is sacred to the Navajo people and is effected by the regional haze. Carl Bowman, Grand Canyon National Park Air Quality, indicated that birds flying high can not see their prey below because of regional haze in Grand Canyon.  As a result of birds not seeing their prey, the birds will starve and not be able to feed their young.

Recommendation:
  • Stop making machines that have engines that pollution, and starting making machines that have solar powered engines that do not pollute.

Positive Consequences:

  • No pollution.
  • Reduced regional haze in Grand Canyon.
  • Birds living in Grand Canyon will not have air pollution related disease.
Negative Consequences:
  • Birds living in the Grand Canyon will die of disease and will not be able to see their prey.
  • Visitors of the Grand Canyon will not be able to see the colors of the rocks in Grand Canyon.
Beautiful southwest desert.
