Introduction: Why we want to save the Grand Canyon.
We want to save the Grand Canyon because its one of the Seven Wonders of the world. The Grand Canyon is home to many animals. People like to visit the Grand Canyon to get a good look at things but the haze in the Grand Canyon is causing people not to see many of the great views in the Canyon. Many people like to take hikes and go camping in the Canyon but may have problems with breathing because of the "haze" in the Canyon. What we have done this week. This week we have seen and collected research to find what is causing haze in the Grand Canyon. On Monday a air quality scientist name Rick Moore came to NAU to talk to us about the air in the Grand Canyon. We were given a tour of a power plant on Tuesday to see the effects that it causes the community. They tried to make us believe they were not the ones who were causing most of the pollution. They told us that it was everyone that owned a car that was causing most of the pollution. We looked up as much research as we can find in computers and in the library. Most of our research was saying mostly the same thing, they all went towards the power plants. Thursday we went to the Grand Canyon to see the haze and was given a short tour through the forest to look at some equipment to see the haze. Then to top it off we had lot's of fun and would like to Thank everyone who helped make this trip possible for all of us. |
