Changes In Altitudes - A 5th-12th Grade Balloon Satellite Program:
Changes in Altitudes is designed to address the robotics strand of the Phoenix Mission EPO task through teacher & student built scientific payloads. We provide an authentic learning environment in which student teams build and operate payloads that measure and image the atmosphere and the surface of the earth. The payloads are launched via a high altitude weather balloon that can reach an altitude of 100,000 feet or more. The program encourages participation from underserved and underrepresented school teams in an attempt to encourage students to pursue STEM careers.

Arizona Foundation for Resource Education:
This academic year, teachers will earn professional development hours while they explore Arizona through AFRE’s nine, free Azventure Expeditionary Learning Series events. Areas of focus include geology, water history and management, forestry, and the role and future of honeybees, which are threatened by "colony collapse disorder." A special "Photo Journey" event will incorporate geology, ecology and natural history content as teachers learn to create their own classroom educational products using the latest technologies. The Arizona Foundation for Resource Education also is offering five free classroom-style events to provide teachers with the knowledge and skills they need to create high-performing classrooms. This academic year’s topics include "green power" and air quality.
